304, 316, etc. are all American steel names. 304 corresponds to the domestic grade 0Cr18Ni9. It is versatile stainless steel and is the most commonly used stainless steel. It is widely used to make equipment and parts that require good comprehensive performance (corrosion resistance and formability), such as food equipment, general chemical equipment, etc. 304 has excellent hot and cold processing and forming properties. It can process various products such as plate, tube, wire, belt, and type, and is suitable for manufacturing cold heading, deep drawing, and deep drawing parts. Weldability is normal. 316 corresponds to the domestic grade 0Cr17Ni12Mo2, which is a low-carbon stainless steel and its welding performance are better than 304. Because stainless steel contains molybdenum, its resistance to pitting corrosion in marine and chemical industrial environments is much better than 304 stainless steel. Under high-temperature conditions, when the concentration of sulfuric acid is lower than 15% and higher than 85%, 316 stainless steel has a wide range of uses. 316 stainless steel also has good resistance to chloride attack. Among they, the variants of 316 stainless steel include low-carbon stainless steel 316L, nitrogen-containing high-strength stainless steel 316N, and free-cutting stainless steel 316F with high sulfur content.

316L is an ultra-low carbon stainless steel with a maximum carbon content of 0.03. It can be used in applications that cannot be annealed after welding and require maximum corrosion resistance. Its corrosion resistance is better than 304 stainless steel and it has good resistance in the production process of pulp and paper Corrosive performance.

316 and 316L have good heat resistance and can be used as heat-resistant steel, but 304 is not. In intermittent use below 1600 degrees and continuous use below 1700 degrees, 316 stainless steel has good oxidation resistance. In the range of 800-1575 degrees, it is best not to work continuously. However, when 316 stainless steel is continuously used outside this temperature range, the stainless steel has good heat resistance.
